Deism in Colonial American History

Some of our Founding Fathers shared a common belief: Deism. What is it?

One of the best parts of being an academic is the access to experts on a wide variety of interesting subjects: history, the arts, science, religion, and more. For this week’s issue of Mind Travel, I invited a fellow scholar, friend, and running buddy, Professor Scott Billingsley, to talk with me about deism, an unorthodox take on Christianity popular among some leading intellectuals of colonial America. I think you will enjoy hearing what Scott has to say. I certainly did!

On a related note, another friend and fellow scholar, Professor Chris Young, will be joining me for a webinar about American Patriots in Paris, a trip we are co-leading for IU Travels in September. If you would like to learn more about this trip, please click here to registrar for the webinar, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. April 8.
